Robert Ampudia Whitt III is the author of Expat and
chief executive officer of Quill/AWA Enterprises, a marketing
communications company with resources for the U.S. Hispanic
segment. Quill/AWA also handle assignments in Mexico and other
Latin American countires on behalf of U.S. companies. Bob
is a columnist for the Voice of the Angels, a publication
of the 11th Airborne Division. He is the founder of The Legacy
Center for Public Policy and is Chairman Emeritus.
His career has been in the international business arena
in Latin America and Europe as Chief Executive Officer of
two multinational corporations. Bob was the publisher of fifteen
magazines in several languages. He was a member of the Alliance
for Progress Task Force sponsored by the White House, and
cooperated with the United States Information Agency directing
the publishing of Spanish language books promoting the free
enterprise system. He worked with the Organization of American
States (OAS) and Dr. Alberto Lleras Camargo, former president
of Colombia and Secretary General of the OAS.
He is a native Texan born in San Antonio. He lived the first
years of his life in Mexico City where his father was headquartered
as part of the engineering team that built the famous highway
known as the Desierto de los Leones, the Desert of the Lions
and the Mexico City airport. Bob grew up speaking English
and Spanish. He returned to San Antonio to attend school and
later graduated from the University of the Americas in Puebla,
Mexico and Mexico City. He served as a paratrooper with the
11th Airborne Division in the Korean War. He lives in Dallas,
Texas with his wife Patricia.
